Update on COVID19 & Cancellation of Programs

March 13, 2020 Off By Anna Lake
As of today, Vestal Public Library remains open to the public.
We are, however, cancelling all Youth and Adult programming, effective immediately, through the end of March. We hope to resume programming in April, but please stay tuned if we need to extend the cancellation.
Our space offers patrons the opportunity to practice social distancing. Additionally, we have been taking extra precautions, including an increased and comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting routine. Hand sanitizer is available in several areas of the library.
We are staying in close contact with the Broome County Health Department, and will remain vigilant in our efforts to assess risk levels on a daily basis and make decisions pertaining to library activities as the situation evolves. We reserve the right to cancel scheduled meetings if the Interim Director deems such action necessary.
We will continue to keep you updated as we know more. For now, please follow public health measures, including thorough hand washing and use of hand sanitizers. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, please stay home. We are happy to renew materials over the phone.
There is much inaccurate information currently circulating about the coronavirus. According to the Broome County Health Department, as of 3/12/2020 there are ZERO confirmed cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus) in Broome County. An announcement of one confirmed case was incorrect, and was not verified through the Health Department prior to the news release.
Your best source of the most current information on the Covid-19 outbreak is the CDC website, which is being updated continually.
Thank you and be well!
