OPEN MIC SERIES
The Vestal Public Library announces their Open Mic series, the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. This will be an opportunity for musicians and artists of all genres – vocalists and instrumentalists, actors, and even slam poets – to step out to perform for their friends, family, and community!
We hope to welcome both seasoned performers and aspiring newcomers, and we will feature outstanding members of the local community as hosts, including Dan Fluegel, Chris Koldewey (host of the Cranberry Coffeehouse concert series), and Curt Osgood.
The Open Mic nights will be held the Big Meeting Room. A small sound system will be provided, but nothing to disrupt the readers in the stacks!
There will be a sign-up sheet at the library prior to the event to select your time slot and let us know what your talent is and how you would like to be introduced by the emcee! Please note, time slots are in 10 minute increments so plan accordingly.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Information Services at 754-4244.
This is a friendly group of members who knit and crochet at the Vestal Public Library. They meet to share new ideas and techniques and to enjoy the camaraderie that goes along with it. If you knit or crochet, you are aware that a mistake here or there is inevitable. These folks are happy to help with this. The group meets the second Thursday of every month in the Meeting Room from 10-12 pm. At times donations are made to charities.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Information Services at 754-4244.
Book Club Notes
Join Us For our next Book Club on February 19th at 6 pm. Bring your ideas! All are welcome.
Recently I had the pleasure of reading Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner. It is the story of a woman who exiles herself to a hotel on a lake in Switzerland. Running away from her indiscretions, she has a chance to explore what love means for her. It won the Booker Prize.
Another one of her books is Leaving Home.
