The Vestal Public Library announces their Open Mic series, the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm.  This will be an opportunity for musicians and artists of all genres – vocalists and instrumentalists, actors, and even slam poets – to step out to perform for their friends, family, and community!

We hope to welcome both seasoned performers and aspiring newcomers, and we will feature outstanding members of the local community as hosts, including Dan Fluegel, Chris Koldewey (host of the Cranberry Coffeehouse concert series), and Curt Osgood.

The Open Mic nights will be held the Big Meeting Room.  A small sound system will be provided, but nothing to disrupt the readers in the stacks!

There will be a sign-up sheet at the library prior to the event to select your time slot and let us know what your talent is and how you would like to be introduced by the emcee!  Please note, time slots are in 10 minute increments so plan accordingly.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Information Services at 754-4244.

Scheduled hosts for our Open Mic series:

August: Tim Greer

Join us for our Open Mic Night on Tuesday, July 10th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  The Vestal Public Library Open Mic Series allows both amateur and seasoned performers of all crafts to showcase their talents in a warm and welcoming venue.  Our host for this month will be allen lutins (yes, no upper case but a true upper deck performer).   An eclectic and incredibly talented guy, lutins primary instruments are clarinet, guitar, and Irish whistle.  He currently plays in several klezmer ensembles and he and his wife Marie are both avid stereo photographers.

Performance slots are in 10-minute increments.  Please call the library at 754-4243 to reserve your spot.  We look forward to seeing you shine!

Join us for Book Club at the Vestal Public Library!  On the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 pm, you will have the opportunity to engage in a critical yet friendly discussion about some great works of literature.  The Book Club will be held in the East Room (back of the library) and all are welcome.

The selection for August is House at the End of Hope Street by Menna van Praag which will discussed at our next meeting on Tuesday, August 14th.  We look forward to seeing you.

“Beguiling and bright, van Praag’s third novel delights with deft writing and charming characters.”                                                                           ~Kirkus Reviews
