It’s time for Summer Reading Program 2019, A Universe of Stories!
This year is all about SPACE! To start things off, we will have our annual Summer Reading Challenge, open to youth ages 0-18. This challenge helps promote and encourage reading over the summer months when most kids are out of school.
Registration for the Reading Challenge begins Monday, June 24, and the challenge runs from Monday, July 8 through Sunday, August 18. Participants will have the opportunity to earn weekly prizes for completing their reading goals, as well as chances to win larger grand prize baskets!
You do NOT need to be a Vestal resident to participate! All youth are welcome! Just stop on by the Youth Services Department to register!
Here’s a list of our FREE Family Fun Events this summer at the library!
These events are free and open to families with children of all ages.
Please note, registration is required for Kopernik’s Portable Planetarium. Registration will begin on Monday, July 1, with the opportunity to sign up for a half-hour spot while they last. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
No registration required for all the other family programs!
Please join us for one, some, or all of our exciting Elementary and Tween STEAM Programs this summer!
Elementary programs are for ages 6-9, and will be held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
Tween programs are for ages 9-12, and will be held on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m.
Please note each program has a specific date for when sign-ups begin! Most programs run between 1-1.5 hours.
We are proud to announce our NEW summer program “Galaxy Performers: Readers’ Theater,” offered on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. from July 11-August 15.
In this program, children will practice acting out and performing a script. It’s a great way for children to develop reading fluency and comprehension while being creative and having fun!
Runs in two-week sessions, with the second session ending with a performance for all to see! You must sign up for both dates in a session, but you do not need to sign up for all sessions!
