Public libraries play an essential role in fostering strong communities by supporting access to information, community engagement, intellectual curiosity, innovation, entertainment, and life-long learning. As an open-minded and flexible leader, it is my goal to cultivate a collaborative and engaging library environment that reflects the diversity of the region it serves, that is recognized by the community as an essential public service, and functions as a community center.

My academic background is in Fine Arts. I studied Studio Art in both my undergraduate work (JMU) and also have a MFA in Studio Art – Photography (GWU). I received my MLIS Degree from the Catholic University of America. My library career has been spent mostly in Community Colleges where libraries serve dual roles as both Academic and Public Libraries. I worked as Lead Librarian, Collection Development Librarian, Instructional Librarian, Reference Librarian, Archivist, and Fine Arts Instructor, fulfilling many of these roles concurrently.

I am thrilled to merge my commitment to access to information with my passion for community engagement. My unique background in Fine Art and diverse work experience in libraries, education, management, and customer service have cemented my dedication to public service. These are just some of the many reasons why I am thrilled to be the new Library Director at Vestal Public Library

On a more personal note, I am a nature nut and avid gardener, an Artist and art lover. I love live music and my taste in music is extremely eclectic. I am currently working on my first novel. When not socially distancing, I love lifting weights. I enjoy cooking and trying to eat healthy, so I look forward to working in my garden and growing my own produce. I love to read Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Mysteries, Thrillers, and Personal Wellness books.

There are new and exciting changes on the horizon for VPL. Please be assured that the VPL Staff and I are committed to provide our patrons with access to information, engaging and meaningful programming, and to curate a living collection that grows and changes to reflect the interests and needs of our patrons.

I am thrilled to lead the Vestal Public Library and look forward to getting to know all of you our patrons. Thank you for supporting Libraries and appreciating the services that we provide.
